Developing Communities and Building Capacity

CHALLENGE

Our client planned a substantial investment in Memphis through new construction, creating over 250 jobs and driving over $4.55M in MWBE (Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise) participation. They required expertise in securing incentives, maximizing economic impact, and managing minority vendor selection.

APPROACH

Dean Public Affairs brought together a multi-disciplinary team specializing in economic development, public affairs, and government relations. Our comprehensive approach included:

  • Partnering with local economic development agencies to maximize infrastructure, workforce development, and business growth incentives.

  • Designing and facilitating a minority vendor selection process to align with MWBE participation goals.

  • Conducting an analysis of potential partnerships to identify local suppliers, workforce pipelines, and cost-efficiency opportunities.

  • Engaging elected officials and community leaders to promote the project’s economic benefits and secure political and community support.

IMPACT

Our work resulted in the successful negotiation of an incentives package that allowed the client to allocate additional capital to operational investments. MWBE participation exceeded initial goals, and the project built meaningful relationships with key government and community stakeholders.
